AmRail has 3 open Positions for Laborer/Torch-Men. The location given is Kansas City KS, but we are working throughout the Midwest, Southeast and beyond as required.
American Rail Marketing is a leading provider of services to the Railroad Industry throughout the Midwest, South and Southeast.
- Starting Rail Torch-Men / Laborers @ $17 per hour. You will be entitled to a raise at 6 months and again at 1 year.
- Overtime is paid at time and a half.
- Our Rail Crews work 6 days a week, 10 hours a day, 3 weeks at a time.
- $35 per-diem for every day on the road, including travel days.
- AmRail arranges and pays for your hotels as well as air travel to and from jobsites.
- Medical & Dental benefits after 90-days of employment.
- 100% Travel is Required, 3 weeks on – 1 week off rotations.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.

If you have a Class A or B-CDL, have Railroad Laborer Experience, can Operate a Wheel Loader and/or Grapple Truck Loader in a Railroad Environment you’re at the top of the list and pay is negotiable!
Responsibilities & Typical Tasks:
- Working Safely.
- Be aware of your surroundings and equipment operators working limits.
- Use an oxygen/propane cutting torch to cut railroad rail.
- Maintain good operating condition of tools.
- Keep tools and parts organized in trucks and toolboxes.
- Driving on and off railroad tracks.
- Setting equipment and vehicles on and off railroad tracks.
- Walking on uneven ground, in railroad ballast, while marking rail to be cut.
- Equipment maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, minor mechanical repairs, checking oil and other fluids, etc.
- Counting railroad material.
- Grading railroad material.
- Measuring.
- Counting.
- Daily job briefing meetings.
- Hand sorting railroad material.
- Waiting for trains…
Railroad Laborers Must Possess:
- A Valid Driver’s License, (higher pay rates for those with CDL-A or CDL-B).
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- The ability to follow safety plans and participate in daily job briefings.
- The ability to take daily job briefing notes.
- The availability to work for 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
- The ability to walk, stand, sit and drive repeatedly throughout a 10-hour day.
- The ability to work well with everyone whether it be your own crew or other railroad workers.
- The ability to follow instructions written or verbal.
- The ability to lift 40-50lbs regularly and up to 75-lbs occasionally.
- The ability to walk on uneven ground repeatedly throughout a workday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 50 – 60 per week
